Alisa Reith

learning scientist | mixed-methods researcher

I am an educator, researcher, and artist interested in power and politics in teaching and learning, privacy and surveillance, and government transparency. As an educator, I've taught individuals and groups of all ages and abilities, in schools, musuems, stages, and libraries. My scholarly work spans education research, science and technology studies, and surveillance studies.

I earned my doctorate in Learning Sciences at Northwestern University in 2025. I specialize in participatory and design-based research, and particularly enjoy combining archival, computational, and ethnographic methods. Currently, I conduct research with Lucy Parsons Labs, where I also write grants, experiment with code, and design and facilitate FOIA workshops for a range of audiences.
